6G Computing Architecture: Distributed, Software Defined Accelerated and AI-enabled

Concepts, use cases, and architectures for the B5G/6G network are currently being discussed worldwide. In several published 6G white papers, such as Next G Alliance in North America and 6G-IA in Europe, distributed computing is expected to evolve significantly from 5G. Further decentralization from the current edge-cloud design pattern in 5G multi-access edge computing (MEC) is also being considered to leverage computing resources in sites that are physically closer to the user, such as “Far Edge.” NTT Laboratories believes that, based on this evolution, it is essential to further converge and coordinate computing resources between the user devices, edge, and cloud, as well as the network resources that connect them, and is studying how to reflect this concept in B5G/6G network architecture. We'll give an overview of our study architecture and the 5G system enhancements leveraging NVIDIA GPU and DPU to partially demonstrate our architecture and its benefits.
