The Nuro Driver: An AI-First Autonomous Driving System

Autonomy software is artificial intelligence for the physical world: recreating a human driver using a combination of software and hardware. Powered by AI, our vehicles independently navigate the ever-changing world safely and reliably. Teaching our driverless vehicles to navigate public roads has been the foundation of our work since we started Nuro seven years ago. We've invested in machine learning from Day One, and a large portion of our autonomy stack already learns directly from data. Adopting machine learning across our entire stack has helped us make continuous improvements to our full operational domain simultaneously. Unlike a traditional robotics approach, which often had to focus on specific interactions, machine learning allows us to improve multiple autonomy challenges of varying complexity at the same time and ensure that the solution generalizes across our entire operational area.
