Recent leaps in hardware architecture and graphics software have made ray-tracing at VR framerates possible. In turn, ray-tracing changes fundamental assumptions in VR software architecture, enabling eye-matched rendering of very large datasets. In combination with NVIDIA's Omniverse collaborative graphics platform, this capability is enhanced to live data and datacenter-scale computations.
In this talk we explore the computational and perceptual advantages of ray-traced VR, examine new architectures and look at case studies of raytraced VR in creative workflows.
