Handle Translucency with Real-Time Ray Tracing
, NVIDIA
Get an overview of the state of the art in translucent rendering with the aid of hardware-accelerated ray tracing, where we'll discuss various translucent rendering techniques to handle different translucent effects, including alpha blending, transparent shadow, real-time subsurface scattering, back-scattering, volume transmission, etc. We'll also discuss the outstanding challenge and future direction. The talk is focused on challenges and tricks to apply for implementations in production. Although we will explain algorithms, you're expected to have basic understanding of common translucent rendering techniques. Given the fact that next-gen consoles all have hardware-accelerated ray tracing, it will benefit you to learn how to use the new tool to render what was previously nearly impossible or very limited, which empowers artists to create better visual content.
